Originating in the Northeast region of the United States, the slang term "butter" refers to an item or situation that is considered 'cool' or pleasing to the eye. Sometimes, one might use the term "churned butter" to indicate something that is especially cool or pleasing to the eye. These two slang terms aren't very popular yet and can sometimes be used to be sarcastic or while making a corny joke.
"Dude, look at my science project!"

Usually used in shooting games when the player shoots another person in the nuts.
It's a reference to the South Park episode where Cartman thinks China is taking over and Butters keeps accidentally shooting people in the private parts. Cartman keeps shouting 'Butters' when this happens.
"BUTTERS!' Guy one covers his eyes.
"I wasn't even aiming there!," guy two explains.

One person will extend his arm and say, "Yeah man, butter!" while twiddling his fingers with vigor. The second person will reciprocate, making only light contact with his/her own twiddling fingers.
