Perhaps the term originated from the 1994 film, "I'll Do Anything" has the scene where the movie producer says "I don't make movies that sell cappuccino in the lobby. I make popcorn movies."
Movie fan: Twister and Independence Day are without a doubt, popcorn movies. Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Jaws, however are not.
Average person: Ugh. WHAT?! You don't even know what that means!
A movie that serves the purpose of making you feel high. Examples... The Matrix, King Arthur, Braveheart.
Man, I was feeling like shit the other day. I quickly went to my high movie collection and decided to watch "The Matrix". After the movie, I felt high, like I could kick some ass or something.

Another piece of shit spoof that just has riduculas characters, why not have real actors instead of fake actors playing as the actors like they were crazy ppl. Sma eas the X Men, why can't they get Ian McKellen playing Magneto instead some other old guy dressed up like it was a fucking halloween party.
Epic Movie is a piece of shit, bad stunt doubles like when the lion was fighting the witch it was some Asian kid. Jokes suck, too much breakdancing oh god it was like watching You got served but this sucks alot worst. And the scene where "Captian Jack Sparrow arrives" and the White Bitch would be wearing a Davey Jones mask and then starts another break dance. These jokes are unexplainable and unfunny. Don't watch it.

Classics of the horror movie genre were filmed thru the 1950's to the mid 1980's. The teen genre, though no stranger to horror movies, is believed to have caused the demise of "true" horror movies in the 1990's. Typical teen movies now often mix with the horror genre, causing genuine horror movies to often be thought of as a thing of the past.
