An acquaintance who wants to become your best friend overnight. Slightly obsessive, very crazy. Copies everything you do and tries to get in your 'crowd' when she/he (usually female) hardly knows anyone. Prone to scenes inc. crying & sulking, general crazy behaviour and desperate for affection. Longs to hear you say you 'love her' via major hinting such as "love you", "do you like me better than..." All this behaviour accumulates into a 'friend-zy'.

A same or opposite-sex friend crush on someone you admire and want to befriend. This person possess qualities you look for in a friend. Although you've never officially met them, you consider them a future friend and will go to drastic measures to reach true friendship.
"Hey, Danielle. Where are you studying tonight?"
"Oh, hey Katie. I checked out facebook today, and my secret friend, James, works at Starbucks. I overheard him talking to a friend in lecture today saying he has to work tonight. I think I'm gonna hit up Starbucks later!"
"NIIIIICE. I can see your Secret Friendship really blossoming tonight. I'll go with you for moral support."

Someone that you love to hang out with and someone who you think you need. A guy who you come to depend on but someone that you always have at least one secret from, a wary feeling is always there. Is he for real? Is he gonna hurt me? Am I with the right guy?

A man who is somewhere between a friend and a boyfriend. This can be a temporary state from which he will eventually become a boyfriend or a permanent state of more than friendship. Even if you have only hooked up with him once, if you have crossed that line, he's a man-friend.
That guy you keep trying to convince people is not your boyfriend: he's your man-friend.

Usually people will say this when they’re asking for themselves but to embarrassed. Some people are actually asking for a friend when they say this but people still assume they’re talking about themselves.
Jennifer: is your cousin single? Asking for a friend.
Todd: do you like him?
Jennifer: no, I’m actually asking for a friend. I’m not gonna say who though.

They are the shoulder to cry on.
They watch your back.
They make you smile, even when you're mad at them.
They will do anything for you.
They aren't afraid to hang out with you in public, they will just be crazy with you.
You would give a friend an oreo, but you'd give your best friend your last oreo.
