Putting yourself in the friend zone before you make an ass out of yourself

A play on the Christian term Original Sin, this refers to the first friendzone. This was in 1540 when King Henry VIII was advised by Sir Thomas Cromwell to marry the Protestant Anne of Cleeves. Henry was displeased with Anne, and although the two married, the marriage was annulled in the same year. Following the annulment, Henry referred to Anne as "beloved sister of the King", which in the modern day roughly translates to "I love you, but more like a sister", a classic line in the world of friendzoning where one is unwilling to let the other down too harshly and thus says they do love them but more like a sibling rather than romantic partner. This term can be used by anyone, regardless of gender.
"I'm being friend zoned so hard. It's worse than the original friendzone."

When 2 people both like each other, but are too awkward to ask each other out.
They were both too cripplingly shy to ask each other out, but still had feelings for each other, and therefore were stuck in perpetual friendzone

A very serious condition that can alter the mood of someone who is single and a virgin, typically causing them to ditch their friend group for a girl that does not want them. Someone diagnosed with this syndrome is typically an asshole to their friend group of guys, because there's a lot of misplaced anger.
Symptoms include, but are not limited to:
—ignoring friends
—creating awkward silences
—getting pissed over minuscule problems
—not wanting to be around anyone else, except the girl they like
—the girl they like is NOT interested in them, therefore they feel bad. See friendzone.
—this becomes a cycle where the diagnosed take out their emotions on their friend group even though the friend group is totally innocent
—clearly violating the concept of Bros before hoes
There has been no developed cure, however symptoms seem to be alleviated when the guy and the girl become distant, since the relationship becomes nothing and the guy comes to terms with it.
Stay away from Landon, boys. He's developing some serious symptoms of Friendzone Asshole Syndrome.
When a girl treats a guy as a gay best friend instead of like a man: taking him shopping, talking about feelings, and doing other totally gay things with no intentions of dating him.
"Why is Mike going shopping with her today?"

(noun) the act of removing a person from the "friend-zone" in recognition of his/her possible relationship value. This is the transfer of "just friends"-people who are excluded from emotional and sexual interest, despite personality and physical attractiveness- into the status of "possibilities", or potential partners. Happens very often in movies and cliche stories, but very sparsely in life. (inf) to bridge the Friendzone Gap.
Ramie: Do you think she's pretty?
Rupert: Sure, she's quite pretty- and she's one of the most chill people I know.
Ramie: But you don't like her?
Rupert: No, it's purely platonic- I think not of her that way.
Ramie: Are you sure you shouldn't be Bridging the Friendzone Gap?
Rupert: No.
