hoot de snoot

Adjective describing something or someone believed to be more important or valuable than other things or people because of the snobby attitude accompanying the person or thing.

Not merely ordinarily pretentious, overpriced, snobby, vainglorious, or affected, but excessively so.

Knitter A: Let's go look at the new yarns at the hoot de snoot yarn store.

Knitter B: Yeah, then we can order them on line at a fraction of the price without the attitude.

tour de farce

a performance covering a ridiculous set of non-sequiturs or otherwise wildly unrelated achievements and situations

The band's performance surprised the large gathering with a tour de force of popular (and some not so popular) music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. The variety spanned from Elvis to the Eurythmics, Black Sabbath to The Beatles, Mungo Jerry to Lady Smith Black Mumbazo, Santana to Simple Minds. Maybe it was more "tour de farce"!

90% of all crime there is "gang"-related.
it's not to look cool,it's just what a lot of the younger people there are into, and they take it pretty seriously.
