[musical boner]

The way a pretty girl might give a man an erection, a culinary boner is music that excites people.

Dude 1: Have you heard the new Radiohead?

Dude 2: Yeah, and I had a huge musical boner. It's awesome!

carpet music

Derived from the phrase carpet muncher, is used to describe singer-songwriters popular with indie women. Usually downbeat, vocal heavy and ladles of emotion.

A genre of music that will almost always result in any males in the vicinity changing the radio station, leaving the room, getting out of the car, asking "is everything alright".

IS: jewel, beth orton, ani difranco, new buffalo, fiest, cat power, missy higgins, aimee mann, fiona apple, dido,

IS NOT: mariah, britney, rihanna, fergie, the pussycat dolls

It's too early on a Friday for carpet music, especially Beth Orton.

indie music

Indie music is god-awful music. the bands seem to think that being popular is bad. boring riffs, boring, drums, no bass, and really bad singers. this music is straight bad. the bands always have to have obnoxious names that start with "the" and then 3 unrelated words. oh and concerts are "shows".

Indie fan-"hey i heard The unborn trash machine" is going to have a show, but i prefer "the kingdom of toxcity" and "the hairy gumperts" are good too. they are the epitome of indie music.

Indie fan 2-"aww man "the plural nouns" are really good compared to "the running away" but "the many horses" are fantastic. "the of montreal" is great.

black music

The term 'black music' is used when someone is referring to 'urban' or 'street' music. To substitute the word 'street' for the word 'black' is degrading and suggests that the street is a black persons place.

Some people say the term means music that originated from African Americans but the definition doesn't fit because it doesn't encompass UK Garage, Grime, Dubstep etc. which are all thought of as Black Music styles. Similarly, Rock'n'Roll is not thought of as a Black Music style dispite its origins.

The MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards has now removed Jazz as a category because it is no longer seen as a Black Music style. This fact strengthens the argument that the term is not used to indicate the colour of the skin of the original musicians, but rather the class of the people involved in the scene.

Anyone who believes in racial equality should find the term Black Music offensive.
