A marketing term used by record companies to classify a band. Usually it is used in an insulting kind of way, and many bands are unwillingly placed in the genre. Often confused with New Metal.

A genre of punk rock that has yet to actually appear on the scene. The music is known for its extensive use of traditional "four-chord" punk riffs, nasal vocals, political satire, discontent, general profanity, and hipster bashing. It is best listened to when played loudly. This term was officially coined by a disgruntled English teacher in her mid-twenties, lamenting the loss of angry, yet fun, music to listen to while slamming into sweaty show-goers.
"Punk's dead, man."
"No way! Have you even heard Disestablishminternet play a show? Nu-punk proves that punk's not dead."

Nu Rave is when rich young children 'rave' in a licensed venue, listening to average indie pop bands who call themselves Nu Rave to get the rich young kids to buy their records and make them and their record companies/the venues money.
"Hey Ollie are you coming to Koko Nu Rave night tonight, it'll be jolly good fun. We can buy GLOWSTICKS and wear colourful trousers and act all kerayzeeeeeee, then we can come back to mine and get Jeeves to russle us up a couple of VODKA AND TONICS!..... man"

Nu-Hardcore is basically the subgenre of hardcore that sucks. Among the many, this is probably the worst. Acts like Atreyu fit this perfectly. Lame. Go listen to some 1998-metalcore like ZAO or Living Sacrifice, PLEASE.
(P.S., nu hardcore abuses breakdowns.)
Nu-Hardcore kid:
"Hey man, do you like hardcore?"
Not Nu-Hardcore kid:
"Sure."
Nu-Hardcore kid:
"Yeah, that new Atreyu is sweet."
Not Nu-Hardcore kid:
"Go die. I will end you."

A genre of music that was formed in the late 90s in the post-grunge era. The influences are the meaning of songs from the grunge bands like Nirvana and Alice in Chains and the sound from the metals bands from the 70s, 80s and early 90s like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Pantera. Personally, I think nu-metal is o.k. Some of the bands are pretty good (Linkin Park, KoRn) while others are a disgrace to music all together (Limp Bizkit). The whole music war going on is pointless because nu-metal is no where near the best type of music out there and it will never be. For all of the die hard haters, just think of it as metal with maybe Megadeth or Motley Crue. For the die hard fans, listen to Queen, Sublime, STP or Foo Fighters for a little, then you'll see what good music is.
Linkin Park and KoRn are pretty good bands. Limp Bizkit is horrible. STP, Metallica, Foo Fighters and Led Zeppelin are 100x better than any nu-metal band out there.

Most people would say that "Nu Rave" is a type of genre electronica/techno/pop/indie that bands like "Klaxons" would come under, others would say it's a way that people dress, which seems to consist of 80's era clothing, and bright, neon colours and stuff. The whole "Make Love Not War" T-shirt thing is also supposedly "Nu Rave".
Anyways..to the point. I personally think that Nu Rave is the new emo. Before everyone seemed to be obsessed with the whole emo thing and now all of a sudden New rave has come about. I dont think it's individual. I think it's boring. Don't get me wrong, i have nothing against people who catagorize themsleves, other people, or bands and stuff, i just dont like the whole "putting people into groups" thing.
In fact, i love bright colours, ive worn lots of bright colours for ages and now all of a sudden its a new trend. I just don't like trends thats all. They pass. Ah well..thanks for reading. xxx.
Nu Rave. I dont actually know what "examples" are. Im nuuu ti this.

NΓΌ Metal isn't classic metal. It's not supposed to be classic metal. It is a different genre. That's what everybody that has defined nΓΌ metal needs to understand.
For nΓΌ metal, I mainly listen to Mudvayne, System of a Down, and Stone Sour. But I also listen to real metal; Children of Bodom, In Flames, and Arch Enemy to name a few.
Just because it isn't as hard as classic metal, that doesn't mean it isn't good.
NΓΌ metal is good in it's own respect.
