The illusion of remembering things from earlier in life in a favorable manner, despite how awful or crappy it really was. Often times, it is the lack of appreciation for quality as a young child to cause this. We grow better taste and judgment as adults, changing our perception of things once liked.

Frequently used to reference older video games, sometimes movies or other media.

Guy: Dude, I LOVED Phantasy Star III as a kid! I remember having so much fun with it!

Dude: Yea, it may have been good at the time, but that is the dud of the series. Just try playing it NOW, it's just the retro goggles fooling you.

African Goggles

When you have someone's nutsack over your eyes.

Austin Driver woke up with African Goggles from Porter over his eyes.

oakton goggles

Refers to a false and warped perception of work colleagues due to a scarcity of good looking people in the office. Symptoms of Oakton Goggles include viewing an unattractive colleague at work as quite good looking. An average looking person would appear outrageously good looking if you have Oakton Goggles on.

Sarah: “Hey did you see that really cute guy that was in the tea room before?”
Bec: “Oh you must have Oakton Goggles because he was NOT good looking!”
Both: “hehe”

gay goggles

To look at something from a gay person's point of view.

Wife: "I saw you staring at that woman."

Husband: "I wasn't staring, I had my gay goggles on. Did you see how bad her makeup was?"

Kettering Goggles

A reference to the fact that because there are so few girls at Kettering University, the few (generally unattractive) girls that there are seem much more attractive than they actually are. Similar to beer goggles.

Kettering Student: "Hey dude, check out that chick. She's a dime."
U of M Flint Student: "No man, she's ugly, take off your Kettering Goggles."

Sunglasses which are similar in style and appearance to those worn by U2's Bono.

Tom: "What do you think of my new sunglasses?"
Jake: "Those are good Bono goggles!"

The tendency for mothers to think that their children are good looking, when in fact they are not.

Mom: I bet the girls will be just queuing up to date my young Ralph.
Observer: Actually he's fugly, take off your mommy goggles and see for yourself.
