Identity Giving

IDENTITY GIVING
Telling a person who or what they are or also treating them in certain ways to improve or deteriorate their identity and get them to do or not do something.

Some religions tell their followers they are "sinners"; other religions tell their followers they are "the chosen." Compliments such as "you are the best," or insults such as "you are a fucking idiot" are also examples of "identity giving".

verbal identity

the part of a corporate identity that can be expressed in words - usually including values, vision statement, proposition, positioning, brand promise, key characteristics, tone of voice. It underpins the visual parts of the identity such as logos, colourways, graphic architecture etc.

We need to make sure the verbal identity is in place before we invite design agencies to tender.

Racial Identity

A term that protects cultural assimilators when people speak out against them. Supposedly, defined as the race you feel the most connected to. A person who adopts a racial identity might begin to: speak stereotypically, dress in outdated/ stereotypical clothing, change their physical appearance artificially, or state that they want to be reborn into their racial identity. Typically, but not as the exception, adopters of a racial identity are White American teenagers. Certain laws have been put into place to make it harder to protect your own culture from them. Search also: black Face, Jim Crow (character), weebs, and Oli London

1: Wassup my Bruther?
2: Why are you talking like that?
1: Cus I'm Black. I just got my results back on 23 and me, and it turns out I'm 30% Northeastern African, so I wanted to embrace my Black culture.
2: Not all Africans are Black, and there are other ways to embrace your heritage.
1: Shut up! You don't understand. Being Black is my racial identity. I'm Black and I've always been Black, Now I just have proof!

generationally consistent religious identity

Aka. G.C.R.I. or just generational consistency, When the religious beliefs of an individual match their parents, guardians, and or grandparent’s religious beliefs. The more generations from the same family who have the same beliefs, the stronger the generational consistency is.

Lynda: Hi. I’m Lynda. I noticed you are new to this temple, so I figured I would introduce myself.
Jordan: I’m Jordan. I just moved here from Detroit, Michigan. So how long have you been involved in this temple?
Lynda: I have been involved in this faith my whole life. I have generationally consistent religious identity. Four different generations of my family, previous to mine, have gone to this temple.

Jordan: That is a long line religious devotion in one family. Very impressive.
Lynda: Indeed, it is. Thanks.
