Short for "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion", which is typically, a reference to a form of work-hiring, that hires individuals based on their skin color, gender, sexual identity, and other superficial traits - rather than their own merit.
The individual in question, was hired, because the company, wanted a certain DEI - not because they had the merit - typically wanted for such a position.

When someone is hired or promoted based on race, sexual orientation, gender or political ideology and not based on merit, work ethic, or content of character.
