A chain of mall stores where any scenester can shop for all their pre-packaged sub culture needs. Hot Topic's merchandise is poorly made, yet overpriced. Employees are generally douchebag fashioncore or emo kids who seem to "dress the part" for their job and enjoy approaching all customers entering the store in an over-friendly manner. They might address a customer with a "Hey dude" instead of a professional "Hello Mam." Some people claim they only shop there and buy sale items, however, sale items at hot topic are only bumped down to the price they should have been originally.
Why does it smell like burning plastic everytime I walk into hot topic?

A clothing store in malls pretty much everywhere. Although shopping at this place does NOT make you a poser, there are many posers who shop there. This store sells overpriced clothes for those who have darker tastes in clothing and cannot sew their own originals or buy it from e-bay.
Styles predominant in this store:
-Nightmare Before Christmas

-Black clothing
-Corsets
-Bondage pants
-Jackets
-Etc.
-Anime & Mainstream Culture Tees

CAUTION: When you walk into a Hot Topic, you may experience a slight tingling feeling if you are sensitive to strange vibrations. Be not afraid! These are just the giddy feelings of past customers from their feelings of uniqueness.
Clothes from Hot Topic are so cool... and original, reguardless that there are thousands of the same pair of pants.

A store that promotes anarchy and rebellion against "The Man", despite the fact the employees follow all patrons around the store, making sure they don't steal or participate in any other anarchist ideals.
Anarchy is so cool, man! Yeah! Rock on! AHH! NO! HANDS OFF THE MERCHANDISE, THIEF! Someone, quick! Call the cops!

a store in which people shop. there is nothing wrong with the people that shop there or the people who don't shop there. People can buy from there if they want to, or people cannot. it is a store where some people like to get clothes. end of story.
"let's go to Hot Topic."
"That's alright, you can go ahead and go in there if you want to."

A chain store that tries to sell underground culture (goth, emo, punk fashion) in a mainstream environment. They are poseurs because they try to market underground culture to the mainstream, and underground culture is meant to be outside the mainstream.

American workers have minimun wage unlike foriegn sweat-shop workers.
