Then he went to jail and I got drunk and partied, whiled he studied books in his cell. Now that he’s out I’m addicted and he’s telling me all he learned from his books, and about getting high on life. Why did we flip the script?

The only way to express one's self in the modern-day online world. It is an alternate form of the written language where one replaces every letter possible with symbols or numbers that resemble the letter they're replacing.
Instead of typing, "I went to the mall today", one would type "! \/\/3/\/7 70 +43 /\/\4|| "|"0)4`/"
this is of course an extreme example.. one could instead only replace a few characters for a more subtle effect, i.e. "Hi there" becomes "H! Th3re" and "leet!" becomes "l337!"
so on and so forth..
