The 7th studio album by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, released in June 1999. Californication marked John Frusciante's return as their guitar player, and was the band's best selling album. Singles include "Around the World," "Scar Tissue," "Otherside," and "Californication." A truly great album that utilizes guitar & bass riffs to show the band's signature funk sound.

The Californication song Scar Tissue won the 2000 Grammy Award for best rock song. The music video showed the metaphor of a battered and torn band on the road to recovery.

1. verb - The act of migration from California to other states in search of cheaper housing, better morals, and lack of gangs, drugs, prostitution, etc. Instead, they drive up house prices whereever they move to, and bring their low morals, gangs, drugs, and prostitution to the other states.
2. verb - The performance of sexual acts with a person higher-up in the movie industry in order to be in a Hollywood movie, made famous in a song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
3. verb - The combination of the words California and fornicate to signify the despicable acts defined above. See californication.

What is rapidly occuring specifically in the state of Oregon, particularly in regards to housing. Californians who move up here and drive mortages and rents up to beyond what most members of the "creative class" can afford. In doing so, the very people who have made Oregon unique (especially in the Western corridor, including Eugene and Portland), are driven out, and that which draws people here (uniqueness, creativity, progressive thought) is being eroded.
Hawthorne used to be cool, before it succumbed to Californication.

1.) The influence of the California lifestyle on other states. When Californians move to other states like Oregon, and Nevada, and try to live, speak and act like they are still in California. (originated from the Hot Chili Peppers' album).
2.) When a Californian, sleeps with someone from another state to whom they are not married.
Don't try to commit Californication in Nevada, we like our state as it is, don't bring your California life here.

Californication means when Western civilization has an effect on another state (or country). This isn't only limited to California. They mean all WESTERN states. Besides, all the smart Californians know that this state isn't just a beach, or one city (Hollywood)
