contrabass tuba

A tuba designed for marching that resembles a concert tuba in shape but is carried on the left shoulder. They usually weigh between 35 and 55 pounds.

The visual advantage for such a tuba on the field is that it can be held in carry (held vertically in front of the person) and in various other positions.

They are called Contras for short.

Contrabass Bugle

The most bad ass instrument on the marching field

"Look at that guy march that contrabass bugle, he's so awesome!"

contrabass flute

Basically, a giant flute. It's like a contrabass saxophone or a contrabass clarinet, but it's a flute.

Person 1: "Woah! That's a giant flute! Is it an alto flute, or a bass flute?"
Person 2: "Neither. It's a contrabass flute!"
