The act of comparing literally EVERYTHING with Nazi, Hitler, or any ideas behind it (fascism and discrimination, such as racism, sexism, ableism, etc.)
This term taken from Godwin's law (an internet examples of Reductio ad Hitlerum)
Godwinning is dangerous in two ways:
1. It desensitizing people about Nazism real harm, because it's easy to compare everything with Nazi, right?
2. It promotes echo chamber and kills democracy since godwinning is a perfect form of censorship which blocks and shuts down any dissenting opinion, thus expect any groupthink or opinionated, close minded people, or even worse: Totalitarian and Orwellian society when your behaviours are dictated to the very detail
3. It didn't solve anything. Want a difable friendly place? Build it. Want a gender and sex equal zone? Start it by stop making rape jokes---Godwinning is a perfect example of slacktivism
To compare one's opponents to Hitler or the Nazis during an argument. A verbation of Godwin's Law.
Soe godwinating idiot on the forums said that Hitler would have used Slackware. It really shot the thread all to hell.

A term that originated on Usenet, Godwin's Law states that as an online argument grows longer and more heated, it becomes increasingly likely that somebody will bring up Adolf Hitler or the Nazis. When such an event occurs, the person guilty of invoking Godwin's Law has effectively forfieted the argument.
"Dude, shut up. Nobody cares what you think."
"Oh, so now you're trying to censor me? Go to hell, you damn Nazi!"

n. The average number of replies in a thread before a Nazi reference is made. Generally, Godwin's number is regarded to be twenty, based on the equation: G=(d(Q1)+d(Q2)+...+d(Q)n)/100*n^(-n)
where Qn is the intelligence of user n, n is the total number of forum users, and d is a damping function that prevents the intelligence (or lack there of) of one user to influence the others too much.
As he typed his polemic on the forum, John brought the discussion one step closer to Godwin's number.
To prevent discussions from getting out of hand, OmniForums will now calculate Godwin's number based on the first two threads.

When a forum member intentionally references Nazis or Hitler to close a thread, the forum member concedes any right to continue the thread, but the thread is not considered closed.
User1: Absolutely ridiculous. You know who else had a special police force that jailed their citizens for disagreeing with them? That's right. The Nazi party.
User2: I'm calling Godwin's Exception. The Godwin's Corollary only functions when you mean it. You're clearly trying to short circuit the conversation.

Usenet There is a tradition in many groups that, once this occurs, that thread is over, and whoever mentioned the Nazis has automatically lost whatever argument was in progress. Godwin's Law thus practically guarantees the existence of an upper bound on thread length in those groups. However there is also a widely- recognized codicil that any intentional triggering of Godwin's Law in order to invoke its thread-ending effects will be unsuccessful.
"As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one."
