Both terms are used at work. Its meaning you are taking off shift early. Also can mean personal leave. The employee just don't want to give too much detail as to the reason why they are leaving early from work. CYOA If you have time available to take off why does it matter what you use it for sick or whatever. It's your time. Do what you want with it.
