An evil corporation trying to brainwash the youth that nothing except being popular matters, and that you have to look good to be of any value, or else you are worthless. They also try to make kids think that blink 182 is "punk", even though they play no actual punk music, most of it is just rap.

Cable television station. Acronym (ironically) stands for "Music TeleVision." The only shows you'll actually find are contrived so-called "reality" shows like Road Rules and Real World where a bunch of overpriveleged 21-year olds sit around their rooms all day and night while exotic locales most of us will never see exist 20 feet outside their doors and bitch about how much they hate wheover's not in the room at that particular moment.
I thought I saw a music video on MTV last night in between episodes of "Real World Beirut" and "Real World Sri Lanka" but it was just a Panteen commerical.

A television channel that has the nerve to call themselves music television and music is the only thing the don't play.

Music Television.
Channel that was launched on 8/1/1981 on cable. It used to show non-stop music videos and had 5 veejeays in the early 80s. The 80s and early 90s were pretty good for MTV, until it suddenly became more about teen issues than music. Now it's one of the dumbest channels out there.
If you want real music then watch VH1. Don't watch this shit on MTV.

MTV should be against the law, they call themselves music television and they don't even play music, they have shitty shows like Cribs and when I thought they couldn't get any lower they pulled out a show call My Super Sweet 16 out of their asses, the worst show on television to date.

Cable television station originally devoted to showing music videos, hence the abbreviation for "Music Television." Over twenty years, it gradually phased out music except for a tiny bit of top-40 pop and rap, replacing videos with cartoons, game shows, reality shows, and other gen-x/y pseudo-hipster fare.
