A pathological desire to defame and discredit a good person, which manifests itself mainly in journalists and tabloid reporters, leading to slander, misrepresentation, and a compulsion to ignore the truth in favor of scandal or juicy gossip. One of the most notable practitioners is "Hard Copy"'s Diane Dimond who for the majority of her career has allowed her obsession with Michael Jackson to completely warp her professional ethics and make her credibility a joke.
Journalists with Michael Jackson Syndrome can't tell the truth about anyone more famous and successful than they are--they're pathetic.

Michael Phelps Syndrome, or MPS for short, is an affliction whereby females mistakenly believe that a male is attractive based on his accomplishments or social status, despite his hideous appearance.

A condition when a celebrity becomes so famous for playing one role, song, character, media, etc... that when they try to move to something different, it goes horrible wrong or fails immediately. Or in visual media, when a celebrity plays characters on different shows that are different in name, but the same in personality and demeanor. Can vary in degrees, from minor to very severe. They are usually not flexible when it comes to their performance.

A condition caused when an athlete is made out to be a god by the public and press. The symptoms of MJS are the following behaviors;
A: An inflated ego that grows to the point of thinking that you are better than everyone else and forgetting when you had nothing to the point where you think that you shouldnt give tips to your limo drivers, taxi drivers, bartenders, waiters, waitresses, golf caddies, etc.
B: Putting your name on a crappy pair of shoes that cost 35 cents to make in a chinese slave labor factory and selling them for $200 a pair.
C: Modeling mens underpants knowing you are immune to the consequences of losing your macho reputation.
D: Growing a mustache that resembles the one Hitler had which is insulting to Holocaust victims because you know you can get away with it.
E: Cheating on your spouse and asking (former) friends like Nik Ritchie if you can sleep with their wives.
F: Thinking that you are above everyone else despite the fact that no matter how much fortune and fame you have, your selfish and egotistical actions only prove that you are worse than the people who you look down upon.
