Theatrical arm

An arm movement commonly used by actors and singers.

Extend your arm forward with a bend of about 90 degrees at the elbow, so that the hand is level with and to the side of the face.

Now, bend the fingers into a claw-like formation, as if grasping something invisible.
Hold the arm in this position, thrusting the forearm forward to emphasise various words as often as necessary.

He was a serious actor. You could tell by the theatrical arm movements.

Theatrical Version

Tweaking the events of a story so it makes you look better after telling it.

Person 1: Why did you say you told that guy off? He totally made you wet yourself.

Person 2: Shut up man! I gave them the theatrical version so they don't know I have bladder problems.

Person 1: Bladder problems? Now I'm getting the theatrical version.

cheap theatrics

Insincere emotions and behavior intended to achieve a desired outcome or to be perceived as the victim. This phrase is similar to “crocodile tears” but this phrase is saying that they are putting up a big act that is not appropriate to the situation.

Person A: (points to his ear telling someone their boombox is too loud)
Person B: starts crying and says “You (Person A) embarrassed me in front of everyone”
Person A: “Stop the cheap theatrics! It’s not a big deal to be told to turn down the music”

cheap theatrics

Insincere emotions and behavior intended to achieve a desired outcome or be perceived as the victim. One’s behavior is inappropriate to the situation at hand and is obviously a bad acting job.

*During a spin class*
Person A: (points to hear and then points index finger down mouthing it is too loud!
Person B: (stops the music and starts crying) “You embarassed me in front of everyone and made be feel terrible”
Person A: “Stop the cheap theatrics. It’s not a big deal that I told you that the music is too loud. It’s nothing personal”

Theatrical Queer

Any male who participates in ANY aspect of the theatrical world, such as wearing tights, always having the need to be in the spotlight, performing in gay pride parades, frolicking under the moonlight, and is a constant giggler.

Never, EVER, under the grace of the Lord do I wanna be stuck in the same deer blind with one of them there theatrical queers.
