Throwing it Back

Throwing it back is whenever you ask someone a question, and they (annoyingly) ask you the same exact question in return.

These are all examples of "throwing it back":

β€œWhat are you talking about?”…”What are YOU talking about?”

β€œWhat are you thinking?” … β€œWhat are YOU thinking?”

β€œWhere have you been?”…”Where have YOU been?”

Whenever this happens, my brain starts to hut and I feel like I’m doing some kind of Abbott and Costello routine. Obviously, when I say, β€œWhat do you mean?” – I mean β€œCan you explain yourself further?” So, whenever someone returns my β€œWhat do you mean?” with another β€œWhat do YOU mean?” I shut it down and say nope – you can’t just throw it back. And it stops the madness from ensuing.
