Elliot worked at Westbury Pharmacy, Melito's and as a disc jockey for a radio station before his time on AI. He is 90% deaf in one ear and dropped out of high school in 10th grade. Neither him nor his family knew of his talent before he did a karaoke performance at Champp's Restaurant at a mall. Elliott's mom has become just as famous as him on american idol and won an award for best family moment.

A "Yamin" is what people in some parts of "Africa" call a "farmer's helping hand" or also commonly described as a "farmer's sidekick".
It is also commonly used as a insult towards poor or unfortunate people that are not from a country they live in!
(Example: being from "Eypat"but you live in "Australia".)
