Low-priority email that is somewhere between the spam & personal email that enters your inbox every day. Examples include account alerts, newsletters, payment receipts and twitter requests. Bacn differentiates itself from spam in that it's email that you probably want to receive, but just don't have the time to deal with right now, and it has become an increasing problem in the age of web 2.0 & online social networking.
The term was coined by folks at the PodCamp Pittsburgh 2 Conference on or around August 19th, 2007.

Bacn is email you receive that isn’t spam and isn’t personal mail. It’s the middle class of email. It’s notifications of a new post to your Facebook wall or a new follower on Twitter. It’s the Google alert for your name and the newsletter from your favorite company.

Email that is neither spam nor personal mail. The second class of email. It's the notifications and newsletters from websites. Anytime you submit a definition you receive bacn from urbandictionary.
I need to clear out my spam so I could read my bacn.

A piece of email that isn't spam, but isn't a genuine email either. Bacn is most likely to come to your inbox as a message from a service or website you are a member of.
