Civvies day

A day on which members of an organization or institution can wear ordinary clothes, as opposed to the usual uniform. Often used as a fundraiser.

On Tuesday, we will have a civvies day to raise money for Hospice.

Civvies is usually used in South Africa where it means that you get a day where you don’t have to wear uniform.

“Yes we get to wear civvies on Friday!”
