Named after the district, a gater is a person who is a recurrent visitor of the bars found in the Northgate district in College Station, Texas. They're often the most ardent defenders of A&M's traditions, despite last coming to class during syllabus week. Commonly 18-24, they are not required to be enrolled in Texas A&M. Often, many of them claim to be Aggies when they're in fact taking classes at RELLIS or Blinn.
James: "Did you finish your part of the group project last night?"
John: "Yeah, but I got assigned with a gater and he hasn't opened the Google Doc since last Sunday. If you go on his Snapchat story, it's just shaky videos of him at Northgate last night."
"Gatering" someone is defined by looking in the eyes with a smile on your face while missing a minimum of 85% of your teeth. Also, in order "to gater" someone you have to have at least one major handicap or abnormal genetic disfunction - such as having a third eye. Gatering someone online describes the constant spam and annoyance, usually via manga or anime related internet links and memes, of a friend.
He just gatered me sending a gif of a cute looking japanese girl from an anime. He then asked me on voice chat, although I couldn't understand him because of his mumbling (due to lack of teeth), wether or not I would like to watch an anime with him. I hate him when he is gatering.
