An excuse for just about anything, basically means "I can do it, but not now".
Ideally to be in recovery mode means that one can't perform an action because they have already done it recently and are still "recovering" from it. Thought to be derived from the term people sometimes use to describe their state after an intense workout when they are supposedly weaker from straining themselves and can justify dismissing a challenge. Because "recovery mode" allows someone to excuse themselves from doing something and make it seem like this was because they do it so much, it is often used by egotistical smartasses and cocky jocks. However it can also be used in a completely irrelevant way, often to great comedic effect.
EXAMPLE 1:
guy1: "...no way you go to the gym. Look at you, so pinner!"
guy2: "If you think you're so strong, why don't we arm wrestle right now!"
guy1: "Nah, I'm in recovery mode"
guy2: "Sure, ever since the last time when I won!"
EXAMPLE 2:
teacher: "Marco, why was your essay incomplete?"
student: "I was in recovery mode"
teacher: "oh..."

After taking a big poo, you find yourself unable or find it uncomfortable to perform simple tasks e.g. walking, sitting, running, moving of any kind.
It usually goes away with time but to speed things up you must stand up straight and then relax your anus muscles and you will exit recovery mode.
i just took a mad poo and im in horrible recovery mode
People in recovery from drugs/alcohol that make a huge show about their committment to AA and "The Big Book" that you will meet in rehab centers. They speak grandiosly while throwing around words like 'humble' preformatively. They're often the first ones to drop out of rehab first because they're actually judgmental egoists who don't actually change their behavior or ways but they portray themselves as role-models and constantly spout things like "Meeting makers make it!" and other recovery/AA cliches.
As soon as I met Brian I know he was another Captain Recovery and woudn't last more than week here.
A movement consisting of those who oppose what they perceive as recovery* from mental illness and/or neurodivergence.
This is typically due to two reasons: (1) Recovery from mental illness/neurodivergence is seen as submitting to internal ableism and admitting that mentally ill/neurodivergent people need to be "fixed," and (2) A general mistrust in the psychiatric and health care systems.
*Recovery in this context does not mean a cure, it simply means coping/living with your illness/neurotype in a positive way.
I had to block some people on Tumblr because all my positivity posts about mental illness were swarmed by anti-recovery weirdos telling me I'm a big psychiatry bootlicker.
