Ride the Lightning

Awesome album by Metallica. Features great songs like Creeping Death, For Whom the Bell Tolls, the title track, and more. Awesome stuff from Metallica with more goodness to follow...also the name of some stupid indie rock's album that no one cares about that they used to get attention just because they're a bunch of thieving whores.

Ride the Lightning is a terrific album.

Ride the lightning

A harsher alternative meaning for "go with the flow."

Going with the flow implies just going with whatever happens.

Since lightning is so fast, deadly, etc., "riding the lightning" denotes a "fuck it all" mentality in which the person is so fed up, that they ultimately concede and just adapt or let themselves go to arbitrary circumstance, no matter how austere or violent it may be.

"I can't take this shit no more..."
"Aww, fuck it all. Just go with flow, ride the lightning..."

Ride the Lightning

A popular phrase used to refer to being electrocuted in an electric chair. Also used as an acronym for Let 'er buck, meaning to let the situation play out naturally and see what the results are.

Ted: I don't think I'm going to pass this exam tomorrow, I've barely studied for it and don't understand.

Bill: Sometimes you just have to Ride the Lightning and see what happens, I'm sure it'll work out.
