Barrio

The surname of a family that comes from Spain. The name originates from the Moors. The surname comes from the word Barr which means village. Apparently these areas were invaded by the moors which would have created an interracial mix of African and Spanish lineage with mixings of Christianity and Muslim faiths. A name that has many offshoots.

Barrio-surname from Spain.

the Barrio

Wilkes-Barre, Pennslyvania
Wilkes-Barrio, Pennslyvania
Since no one actually knows how to pronounce "Wilkes-Berry", "Wilkes-Bar", "Wilkes-Bar-ray" or "Wilkes-Bear", referring to this northeastern Pennsylvania city simply as "the barrio" may avoid a fist fight. Barrio is the Spanish word for neighborhood.

Me and my peeps saw ya at Public Square in the Barrio.

The Barrio has the best Haluski and Perogies, hayna?

That Wilkes-Barre Scranton penguin fan is from the Barrio, hayna?

The urban planning in the Barrio is thus: church, bar, church, church, bar, crackhouse, university, bar, church, bar.
