A derogatory term historically used to refer to poor white people in the Southern United States. The term is believed to originate from the sound of whips cracking, associated with white slave owners and overseers who used whips to control enslaved people and drive cattle. Over time, "cracker" has evolved into a broader term that can imply a lack of sophistication or education among white people.

A cracker is a word used to define white people, however it is not a racial slur by any-means. In fact, "cracker" has the same effect as if calling a rat, not necessarily a bad word, but it contain a negative/joking conetenation.
