flip side of the same coin

Is where in essence either which way you go you are achieving essentially the same ends.

For example a sales man giving you the choice of buying a red car or the blue car. It doesn't matter which car you buy because either way you are buying the car.

Also creating two different sides that will achieve the same end result of dividing people up which relates to the divide and conquer military strategy.

Marketing focuses on convincing people to buy a product when sales focuses on the best way to sell the product, and so they are essentially work towards the same ends. They are the flip side of the same coin.

Also look up the illusion of choice and good cop bad cop.. Bottom line is think outside the box!
