common sense

Simple logic. Something that liberals, Communists, Socialists, and most teenagers lack.

Do not stick your penis in the oven.
Do not let psychotic dictators attack you before you remove them from power.
Do not steal from people who earned their money and give it to people who didn't.

Common Courtesy

1. Rare Courtesy

2. The basic level of politeness which you expect from someone in your idealistic world. It no longer exists in this world. Thus, it should be rendered an archaic word because it is extremely old as seeming to belong to an earlier period.

P.S. It should also be removed from the dictionary because it is no longer necessary in the English language.

Common Courtesy is dead.

common sense

1. "Common sense" is something that is no longer "common"; it may have been bred out by rednecks, white supremacists, haters, or plain old "common folk". Maybe it is just ignored as an attempted stand against authority, maybe it is a product of anti-evolution, an anti-sensible change brought about by genetically inept breeding.

EX: Lacking common sense is exemplified by kids run around with sharp scissors or knives, walk in the middle of the road and FULLY EXPECT you to move out of their way - as if the sidewalk needs to be defined on this site before they can figure out that it is to be used by them, and that VEHICLES use the road, stupid parents that don't care, and don't care to know where their kids are lack common sense, drinking and driving. buzz driving, playing Russian Roulette, acceptance of Ebonics as a dialect or urban language is due to a lack of common sense by those who decided it was easier to give up than to teach their students properly, etc... The list goes on and on...

EX 2: It used to be common sense to do a courtesy flush but now when you walk into a bathroom stall (stall) you can't even breath b/c some iggit dropped a bomb sized turd into the toilette and did not flush it. Common sense is something that used to be prevalent in society, as a whole, but through time has diminished greatly for whatever reason.

EX 3: A great example of the lack of common sense is some person looking this definition up as "common cents", as I have heard it referred to, and ironically, I have seen it spelled that way.

tragedy of the commons

The idea that since no one owns a common are (e.g., a public park) that no one takes care of it

The rundown condition of the park was another example of the tragedy of the commons

common sense

Dead and buired, with grubs consuming it's flesh.

"There is a chalk outline being drawn around common sense, and most people cannot even identify the victim."
-Dennis Miller

Lackers of common sense: liberals, teachers unions, communists, socialists, 99.8% of Hollywood, those who suscribe to the National Enquierer, the Media, 9/10ths of Junior High School children, people arrested for trespassing, 3/4ths of people on the road, the postal system, the people who's stunts actually manage to get the words "Don't put genitles in hose" on vaccum cleaners, liberal arts and philosophy majors, 100% of the government, those who dine on puffer fish, judges who actually take cases for morons who burn themselves on coffee and sue the resteraunt, the jury who accqutted OJ, those who wrapped their homes in duct-tape post 9/11, high school dropouts, people who use the rhythm method, people who attempted to masturbate with a freshly baked pie, anybody that went to see a Tom Green movie, those who order a diet coke with supersize burgers and fries, and finally, those who think John Kerry can win in November.

tragedy of the commons

The fact that unregulated resources that are held in common are exploited to the point where they lose their usefulness.

Commonly used to argue that having any resources (parks, etc.) held in common will always lead to their destruction. Especially by libertarians and people who want corporate welfare.

We could make this publically-owned pristine forest into a public park Governor, but that would only lead to the tragedy of the commons. Let's sell it to the logging intrests instead! Since they'll have ownership over the land, they'll have good reason to take care of it.
