Multiple definitions.
1. Noun-Soda, fizzy drink, carbonated beverage. "Would you like a can of pop?"
2. Noun-Father, dad or grandpa, grandfather. "Hey Pop, how was your day?"
3. Action-To hit or strike. "If you don't stop doing that I'm going to pop you."
4. Adjective-Short for the term popular. "This new pop song is by Justin Beiber."
5. Action-To puncture or squeeze. "Why did you pop my balloon?"

Pop is what anyone could call soda. Not just people from Michigan, Minnesota or Washington.

I have lived in Washington all my life. I have never called soda "pop"

Pop

The non-civilized term for Soda. Soda is a shorter version of Sodium Bicarbonate, while Pop is short for nothing. Pop is simply a vague term for the sensation of carbonation. If you refer to Soda as Pop, you are either from Indiana, or on the spectrum.
