pseudo-incumbent

A person who is not in an elected office, but is garunteed to be elected to this office.

In District 11, Rep. A (R) is currently in office. Rep. A(R) chooses not to run in the 2004 election. Mr. B(D) wins his partys nomination for the election. No one from Rep. A(R)'s party runs his office. Since Mr. B(D) is the only one running for the office, Mr. B automatically wins and is a pseudo-incumbent.

pseudo-cousin

a person whose family has known your family for an extremely long time and whose history you know so well you might as well be related (even though you technically aren't).

Amy's parents grew up with her best friend Kate's parents, so Kate and Amy are pseudo-cousins.

Pseudo-Sarcasm

A statement, when made, that is meant to be interpreted as sarcasm, when actually, it is not.

After coming out of my bosses office with a raise instead of the ass-chewing that I expected, I announced, "Man, I LOVE my job"... Everyone thought I was being sarcastic, when in fact, I was using pseudo-sarcasm.

"The pseudo-ethical issue of gay marriage! It doesn't involve morality, but those self-righteous bigots say it's wrong!" the activist shouted.
Such a pseudo-ethical minister! In church, he'll say "Love thy neighbor as thyself," but he'll treat everyone lke dirt.

pseudo-intellectualism

The practice of using sophisticated terms and/or concepts incorrectly or without thorough understanding of their intricate nuances and thus resulting in a flawed body of knowledge (i.e. erroneous beliefs). Typically people who partake in pseudo-intellectualism do so with authority and conviction as a result of some effort to understand the concepts and/or terms but lack the mental capacity to synthesize true knowledge from their efforts and thus typically do not know they are intellectually mistaken.

Yeah, that dude Phillip and I got into a political discussion and he started talking about how Sanders wants to subsidize everything and how Trump economic policies will increase the value of the dollar. He clearly doesn't even know what the word "subsidize" means, that there is a fine example of some pseudo-intellectualism.

pseudo-citation

The act of using an inappropriate source or citation when writing a document.

When you're supposed to write a scholarly, scintific document for some academic institution but instead you write it based on opinion. You would use a pseudo-citation by citing a random book or website to make it look like you did research.
