intrusive ads

Used when referring to ads on a website or app that are so intrusive, for example, if they cover a large portion of the page or if they're full screen. Or if there are so many on the page. The only way to get rid of them is to install AdBlock.

Kyle: I'm not using EasyBib anymore, they have intrusive ads and they force you to click on them.
Chris: Yeah, and in order to disable them, you have to subscribe to EasyBib Pro for $10 a month.

Ad Council

A group of incompetent, corrupt old crones who still base their anti-drug and sex-ed advertisements on research data from the 1950s. Also relates to the "successful" War on Drugs. So far, none of the advertisements have done anything to lessen the increase in drug use, teenage pregnancies, and murders.

"Marijuanna is an evil, deadly tool of Satan which kills people if they even get close to it".
-Brought to you by the Ad Council.

banner ads

Useless, annoying SHIT. No one clicks them, and they ruin a webpage's template. Still not as bad as pop-up ads and pop-under ads.

The Banner Ads were invented by one of those hated internet individuals who create things for ease-of-use advertising. Bastard.

ad-rape

(Noun and verb)

What happens to you when you watch a TV show online and they force you to watch an ad every 5 mins.

You watch a 40min show and you are shown 8 ads (worst if they are the same). You feel ad-raped from being forced to watch these ads. You say "I hate this ad-rape".

ad rage

A feeling of uncontrolled anger when surfing the internet and you are forced to watch an unsolicited video advertisement.

I get massive ad rage when I am forced to watch a ad video, when I am in a hurry.

Benetton Ad

Promoting racial diversity. Representing a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Showcasing the color of skin over the content of character.

I think that judge wanted a Benetton Ad not an Iron Chef.

ad whore

An individual or group who discretely tries to toss in a plug for a product or service they offer for sale. Many times there will be 2 more offenders who try to make a fake coversation on a topic for a product they sell or offer, drop a free advertisement giving the name and contact information for their company, and hope desperately for the phone to ring as a result of the name dropping.

I wish this "ad whore" would stop using our website to drop their name and leave unpaid advertisements for their company, they are not appropriate and against the TOS of the website.
