wiki-wandering

after looking up the info you need on Wikipedia, you click on random, interesting-looking links, reading new stuff, until you find yourself reading about something totally unrelated to your original subject.

i looked up "mickey mantle" on Wikipedia. when i was done, i clicked on "new york yankee players," then "world series champions," then on "brooklyn dodgers," then on "leo durocher," then on "laraine day" then on " famous mormons," then on "donny osmond," then on "tv stars of the 70's," then on "david soul", then on "starsky and hutch," then on "tv cars," then on "ford torino," then on "torino talledega," then on "richard petty," then on "stock car champions," then on "alan kulwicki," then on "famous persons from wisconsin," then on "jeffery dahmer," then on "serial killers," then on "howard unruh," then on "camden, new jersey," then on "campbell soup," and then i realized i had just wasted the last three hours wiki-wandering!

wiki train

When you click on one interesting article on Wikipedia, and that leads to clicking onto another interesting arcticle, and another, and another, and you're on a wiki train you just can't get off!

"I clicked on the featured article of the day and I got on a wiki train which ended up at Henry VIII!"

Wiki-screwed

A state of being in which a person relied on information found on wikipedia, generally in a scholarly context, then later, after having already put effort into something using this information, found out that the information was incorrect, and therefore was forced to redo that work.

Rebecca: Oh no! I just based these 37 intricate drawings of DNA molecules on information I found on wikipedia, and it turns out they're all wrong! I'm going to have to redo every single one!
Erica: You just got wiki-screwed.

Wiki troll

A lifeless jerk that spends all day patrolling wikipedia articles and deleting anything that is not referenced regardless of its significance in order to make him feel like he is making a genuine contribution.
Also dominate article discussion pages, squelching any reasonable requests or questions brought up therin with unnecessary and brutal sarcasm.

My article on Cool McCool was deleted by a wiki troll as there are no references on the internet to source, yet he is obviously aware of the series' existance. Tosser.
