Also known as pulling an Annie Wilkes. When a website or forum obsessess over one person to the point of being borderline creepy and almost psychotic, going to such lengths as screencapping everything that person does if it doesn't involve them, posting overly long forum threads about said user, trying to coax said user into joining the website or forum they're apart of and just going out of their way to make sure said person is associated with said site or forum forever.

When a mate who became your friend / joined your friend group carries across personality traits from their previous friend group. In this case, carried across the 'swatty' personality trait (try hard at school/ school sweat.)
The swatty personality trait included sub traits such as short temper to jokes, stupidity, or people being too laid back. Also included are outbursts of anger, being cocky, and having too much pride.
Although these traits can be hidden and removed over time, when under the influence these traits can really show and shine, always dampening the fun of others and the mood of the party. This is what's known as 'Swat Syndrome'.
