Anime

"Anime" is a derivative form of "animation," coined in Japan to refer to all kinds of animation, both domestic and foreign. The word has a more specific meaning in Europe and North America, specifying Japanese animation. American fans of anime usually make a clear distinction between cartoons, such as Looney Tunes and Disney, and anime, which has certain different characteristics.

Anime, as defined in North America, has a distinct art style, often featuring large eyes, small noses, and bright colors. Animation from Japan is geared towards a Japanese audience, which has looser censorship standards, allowing nudity, violence, and mature themes in programming for children and teens; this is perfectly acceptable in Japan. Only a relatively small percentage of anime is pornographic (see hentai).

Unlike Disney animated movies and Saturday morning cartoons in America, Japanese anime is not always made for and marketed to children. Some anime have complex storylines and characters, exploring mature themes. Every genre is represented in anime, from drama to comedy to romance, fantasy to horror.

"Japanimation" is a synonym for anime, but is not used as much.

the animal

related to the shocker; a hand gesture also used for pleasuring a lady friend. to do: hold the pointer and middle finger together like a peace sign but with the fingers together. take the remaining three fingers(ring, pinky, and thumb) and put them touching on the tips, creating somthing like a TP. to use: the two fingers(middle and pointer) go in the cooter, while the other three(like a TP) go in via anally. finally when in the rectum, open the TP to create one helluva hole. really a shocker, surprises the hell out of all girls, kinky or otherwise.

"dude she flipped a shit last night when i pulled The Animal."

"wait. you mean you pulled her ass apart with your three fingers and expected her to like it?"

"ya that was kinda dumb"

anime

Japanimation, or the Japanese term for animation, whichever you prefer. Yes, not all Anime is good and it's not for everyone. The people who are bashing it either have not seen it or they saw the shit that Cartoon Network airs. That's why I don't watch it (Cartoon Network) anymore. I don't know many people who obsess over it so bad they talk about it 24/7. I sure as hell don't talk about it all the time like some others probably would. There is some good Japanese animation out there, like Cowboy Bebop, Serial Experiments Lain and GTO and most of it is cliche`d and such. I like Manga better anyway because its cheaper and the story is more detailed.

The people here that slam Anime are just dumbasses/bullies who are pissed off at the world and have nothing else better to do than to slam what other people like. At least I have a job, jerkoffs.

anime

1. A Japanese term for animation.
2. In America, used to refer to a particular style of art common to Japanese animation and comics.
3. In America, also used to refer to Japanese animation as a whole. The Japanese approach to art and storytelling is distinctive, at least to Americans, and has earned anime quite a few fervent fans and as many detractors. Still, regarding "anime" as a genre is misleading; it's really just a medium, whose subjects encompass drama, comedy, action, children's entertainment, pornography, and what have you. As with any form of entertainment, some of it is good, some is bad, most is in between, and no one will ever agree on what titles are which.

The increasingly popular localization of anime in America is a subject of great controversy among its fans.
