durn your hide

When country folk start a cursin. Durn your hide is loosely translated to dang it or dang you. If a country folk coke at ya with “durn your hide” you may as well just jump off a cliff cause your bout to meet your maker either way.

If someone cuts you off in traffic you yell “durn your hide”.

Can’t hide money

A passive aggressive phrase that is paired with “must be nice.” Normally used to point out your own short comings when compared to someone else who spends their money on premium or fancy objects.

“I see you just ordered PTE8385 turbo and a GrannasRacing1000 T56 Transmission. Can’t hide money.”

“Thomas just bought a new boat. I just saw him pulling it into his gated community. Can’t hide money.”

Hiding in your Cellphone

When someone tries to bypass an awkward situation when they're around people they have nothing to say to by pretending to be busy doing something with their cell phone. In fact, they know they're just looking at old text messages and lightly tapping the buttons or something.

Generally for people who don't know how to make idle conversation.

(One person is on the elevator when another person they KINDA know steps on)

Jim: Hi Sue, nice weather we're having.

Sue: Yeah it sure is!

....(awkward silence)

(both pull out their cell phones and stare at them blankly until the elevator reaches a stop)

(Bob who knows them both enters)

Bob: The old hiding in your cellphone trick eh? Doesn't anyone know how to make small talk anymore?

Kakurenbo: Hide and Seek

The film is based around "Otokoyo", a game of hide and seek played by children near the ruins of an abandoned old city. The children who play this disappear, believed to be spirited away by demons. Kakurenbo follows Hikora, a boy who joins the game with hopes of finding his missing sister. The story line is built on the idea that Tokyo is losing its natural aesthetic, which includes child's games such as hide and seek in order for industrial progress to ensue i.e. lighting the city of Tokyo costing innocence of childhood games.

Hey, instead of normal hide and seek, let's play Otokoyo! (reference to the movie Kakurenbo: Hide and Seek)

Are you going to share that? or: Can I have some? or: Give me some.

Do you have chocolate? Don't hide, divide.
