Ok here's my personal opinion of pokemon. Well when i fisrt got pokemon fire red when i was like 5, i freaked. i was pretty excited about it, and i still have the same copy and i play it to this very day. I loved the first couple of games like sapphire and ruby and emerald and fire red and leafgrean. i even got pokemon gold, but something was wrong with the saving and whenever i turned it off after saving it the save file wasn't there(that's what I get after buying it from the flea market -_-) so i was kinda angry bout that but when soulsilver and heartgold came out it was all good cuz they had the original games with a few tweaks to make everything look better and i totally digged that. but with like white and black? i mean seriously WTF???? nobody wants new pokemon!!! Oh and i hate how it got pegged as it was for "kiddies". i mean seriously when I turned 12 and went to school in the 6th grade, everbody was like pokemon is gay and i'm like What happened? i mean diamond and pearl was ok, but if you're gonna make a game exactly like them in like 2 years, except with BETTER pokemon, what was the point of that. this may seem like a nerd rant, but from what i've heard on facebook, youtube, and twitter about 55% of the teenagers still play pokemon. i mean the shows suck major balls so does everything else EXCEPT for the old games. thats the end.

A mediocre Japanese entertainment franchise for kids which started out as a Game Boy game, and later spawned a cartoon, comics, and trading cards. Was hugely popular in the 90s with young people until they reached puberty.
The original Game Boy game (Pokemon Red/Blue) wasn't bad for its time (though it was ultra-kiddie) and was fairly deep compared to most other hand-held games.
The TV show on the other hand is horrible, on par with old 60s Hanna Barbara cartoons like "Superfriends". Dialogue and voice-acting bad enough to make you weep, incoherent plots that make you wonder how high the writers were when they shat the episodes out, embarrassing attempts at humor which were completely funny and made the show's "serious" moments seem like a joke. You name it. Taking a shit would be more mentally stimulating than this show. Sadly (maybe due to the fact that it's one of the few shows that those without a single functioning brain cell can enjoy) this show is still on the air after 13 years, though its only fans now are 7 year old girls, virgins, and pedophiles who just beat off to the chick in the short shorts (the only enjoyable part of the show).
As for the card game, I never played it or any trading card game. So whether it was "good" or not I have no idea. Collecting and trading cards used to be a big part of the fad, but nowadays I think that it'd be cooler to admit you play "Magic" or World of Warcraft than to admit you still play Pokemon trading cards.
The success of franchises like Pokemon is inversely proportional to the average number of functioning brain cells in the pre-teen American population.

A game that brain washes kids into emptying their pockets. Evil in its purest form. Hmm, I wonder why people want pokemon so bad? Maybe those creatures make good anal sex. The japs are laughing at you all.

Sad, so sad. Seems like we might have to put this one down. BOOOOM! Oh well, one less possessed demon pokemon lover. I love this job.

A cartoon known to attempt to create hot chicks, but failed miserably at that...though the first seasons up to Johto were great.
