Greg Called

A phrase used to out your friend when he's only talking to a chick due to beer goggles.

Friend: "Dude, Greg called."
Guy w/ BeerG oggles: "Thanks bro. Sorry hun, gotta take this call."

(walking away from ugly chick)
Guy w/ Beer Goggles: "Thanks man."
Friend: "No problem, I was afraid I'd hear a Coyote Ugly story from you tomorrow."

phoney call

When you "answer" your cell phone even though it did NOT ring, in order to avoid speaking to someone annoying (1) who has walked up to you, or (2) called you on your phone.

Phoney calls:

(1)

{Annoying person walks up to you and starts talking}
"Hi, how's it going?"

{You} "Wait, hold one, my cell phone is vibrating."
{Reach into pocket, pull out phone, flip it open} "Oh man, I'm gonna have to take this. Sorry. We'll talk later.
{Walk away and fake a phone conversation}

(2)

{Someone annoying calls you from a NEW phone number, that you do NOT have programmed into your phone, so you "accidentally" answer it to see who it is}

{Annoying person} "Hi. How's it going?"

{You} "Oh great. Wait. Hey, I got another call coming in, it's pretty important, so I guess I'm gonna have to let you go. Sorry. Call back soon. Bye. {You hang up and NEVER answer that phone number again!}

Mislead Call

To acknowledgingly call somebody on the phone and say it was an accident or call somebody and not respond when they answer; expecting them to call you back so you can say "Oh, sorry my phone must have called you itself", in fear of them forgetting about you or for their attention.

I pulled the perfect mislead call on my ex last night. She called me back and now we're getting back together.

function call

A phone call lasting about 10 seconds on usual and characterized by brief content, consisting of 3 essential parts:
1. Question
2. Answer
3. Hangup
A greeting and a farewell may or may not be included, depending on the situation as well as the callee.

The most important feature of a function call is the absolute lack of smalltalk. Omitting the usual "so what's up" part makes the conversation brief, effective and usually both less time- and cash-consuming compared to texting.
On the other hand, this fact may render function calling incompatible with most women due to their natural chitchat and gossip requirements.

The name is derived from the programming jargon due to the similarities to calling a function in a programming language, which usually includes specifying parameters and obtaining some kind of return value, close to immediately.

"Who was it?"
"Nothing important, just a function call from my buddy. He forgot my email address."
