The asshole at the gym that monopolizes multiple pieces of equipment at a time. He has no regard for people waiting. He has his oversized headphones on loud ignoring people purposely that try to get his attention. He'll grunt, sing and drop weights out loud for attention knowingly that he can't hear himself just to annoy everyone around him.

The extremely hot and ample chested females in a gym that wear pink tops and do squats, behind the neck pulldowns, military shoulder press, butterflies, etc. and cause men to not work out. If she is on the machine near the water fountain, then all the men will go home well-hydrated to their fat ugly wives. Frequently they will have a boyfriend with them with biceps larger than your thighs.

A gym star is someone who works out on a very regular basis but the ONLY workout for vanity purposes ONLY. Their workout consist only of bench presses and curls. No leg workouts for them.
(This type of workout is called he "nightclub workout")
They do not participate in any sports in any capacity. They also do not work out for "health" reasons as well.
They do not compete in Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, Recreation Sports of any sort.
They just simply want to look big and tough when they go out to night clubs,
Stand out at the grocery store and walk around as if they are carrying luggage.
And they hate on ANYONE who is in better shape than they are.

In terms of sports, if someone is called a Gym rat it is to be taken positively. Someone who puts in the work more than anyone else to become a better player, is considered a gym rat.
Sports commentator 1: Did you see that jump shot, fundamental skills.
Sports commentator 2: Yeah, hes a gym rat and puts in the work.
