Darth Elevator

The elevator that is always draped in dark fabric, at work or in the apartment building, that people are afraid to use.

"Come on, let's hurry upstairs, I have to go to the bathroom!"
"Let's wait for a minute. I don't want to take the Darth Elevator, it scares me."

elevator music

"Ear-candy" spoken by a gal that makes a guy get an "elevation" between his legs.

She: Hey, whoa --- what's with the huge hard-on? All I said was that it's too hot today for me to put on underwear!
He: Heck, Gorgeous --- that's elevator music enough to my ears!

Elevator Scum

An utterly detestable human being. Compared to the scum, garbage and other horrendous substances only found at the bottom of an elevator shaft.

Arguably used in the Dot-Com era to refer to backstabbing partners, cheating bf/gf and the sort.

"You are below scum, you're elevator scum!"

Elevator Spooning

When you are standing in an elevator and people decide it is a good idea to get as close as humanly possible instead of using the open space.

Man that old guy was really close to you, its like he wanted to start elevator spooning.

Taking The Elevator

The act of stooping to someone's level (Meaning lowering your maturity or intellect momentarily) which is so far below what you would usually go.

Can also be used to indicate to the offending person that they've gone too far down.

EX 1: "I'd stoop to your level, but I don't want to Take The Elevator."

EX 2: "I didn't know you liked Taking The Elevator. Now even I don't want to hang out with you."

elevated horror

A subgenre of "respectable" horror movies which began in the late 2010s. They typically carry a social or moral message and are gloomy, gory, pretentious, and aimed at an audience more interested in queer/feminist subtext than scares and fun.

Expect boilerplate Tumblr politics, graphic violence but no female nudity, and laudatory reviews describing them as "slow burns", "giallo homages", or "bonkers".

Examples: Get Out, Us, The Babadook, Hereditary, Midsommar, It Comes At Night, Suspiria 2018, Candyman 2021, The Lighthouse, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Saint Maud, Possessor, Last Night in Soho, Titane, Midnight Mass, ect.

Let's go see the new elevated horror movie by Ari Aster, everyone on Letterboxd says it's a totally bonkers slow burn!
