Irish Hoods

A vicious Irish-american gang based in NYC, mainly in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan, also founds in areas of Brooklyn, Queens and Yonkers, NY. Some suggest they are an off-shoot of the violent Westies gang, and sometimes are called the 'Lil Westies'. They are usually seen wearing dark green and many members have tattoos of the shamrock or sayings in Gaelic and wear the Celtic Cross. They're main rivals are the Bloods, Latin Kings and Trinitarios and they are allied with numerous Mexican, Italian and Albanian gangs throughout the Bronx. They do roll deep, usually 10 or more, and sometimes they also attack other African-American and Hispanics youths on random with their signature 'Stomping out' and they also attack with baseball bats and switch-blades, most members also carry 9 millies. they are a primarily young gang with many members still in High School. There are an estimated 200 something Irish Hood members in the NY area, despite their small numbers, they are still known as one of the most unpredictable, violent gangs around and they're heavy in the Woodlawn, Bedford Park, Bainbridge, Van Cortlandt, Riverdale, and parts of Pelham Pkwy areas of the Bronx and mostly in Inwood in northern Manhattan.

Irish Riviera

An affectionate nickname for the South Shore suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. The "epicenter" of the Irish Riviera are the towns of Scituate and Marshfield. However, from north to south, Weymouth, Hingham, Hull, Cohasset, Duxbury, and Kingston are also considered to be part of the "Riviera."

The close-to-Boston suburbs of Milton, Quincy, and Braintree are arguably considered a part of the "Irish Riviera." They are definitely a part of the South Shore.

Inland South Shore towns including Holbrook, Abington, Rockland, Norwell, Hanover, and Pembroke are often considered part of the "Irish Riviera."

The Marshfield neighborhood of Fieldston is the most Irish-American section of the second-most Irish-American suburb in the country. The town of Stoneham, north of Boston, home to figure skater Nancy Kerrigan, has the highest-percentage of people with Irish ancestry in the USA.

Hella Irish

A slang term from San Francisco, used by teenagers meaning: To get EXTREMELY drunk. You are not getting truly "Hella Irish" unless you are drinking a 40 in a North-face jacket. When people say "Hella Irish" they often do the Shaka hand sign, except they make it seem as if they are drinking from a bottle. These teenage boys often get "Hella Irish" at a magical place called "The Grove"

Jack: What happening this weekend?
Danny: We were all going to the grove, Hella Irish!
Jack: I'm so it! Lets get HELLA IRISH!!!

Irish

In America people do not usualy refer to Irish as americans as Irish but simply Irish. I am half Irish. I do not claim that I am genetically or culturally completely Irish as I am culturally American and my mom's side is hungarian. Also, people need to realize how badly Irish were discriminated against. We were economically raped and had lives worse than the african-americans and latinos did at the time we came here. The reason people don't recognize this is because the Irish are considered white now and no one could possibly imagine that a group of white people were basicallly enslaved. If you don't believe me do some heavy reseacrh on it Being oppressed is not something to be proud of by the way. Being oppressed then digging yourself out of it when other groups of people still have not is something to be proud of. And by the way irish men, and unfortunately women are beasts, usually.

I live in America and am half Irish in background. I am aware the Irish were oppressed and am proud we conquered the oppression.
