A belief system, usually ancient, that is magical and evil in all or most of its context. It is usually contradictory in itself; some pages tell you to be good; others tell you to be evil. It is 100% man-made, and written in a time when people were gullible and stupid. Its brainwashing power has promoted, and influenced, the minds of millions of people to engage in numerous nefarious acts throughout history, such as religious intolerance (especially antisemitism), slavery (especially since the Bible was used to justify enslaving the black race), murder, rape, the Inquisition, the Holocaust, the Witch Trials, numerous "holy wars", the genocides of millions of Native Americans throughout history, 9/11, dying for nothing (martyrdom), etc. THE LIST GOES ON.

The belief in a higher power than the ones we can notice here on earth, this belief always comes with responsibilities to the god(s)/goddess(es) you worship. These responsibilities are passed on to other people by tales or are written down in a holy book. Religions can vary a lot, but they usually all consist immortality after death. In many religions people must make sure of a sacrifice to his/her/their god(s)/goddess(es), this may vary from nuts, fruit, vegetables, etc. to sacrificing animals or even other humans.

Originally made up to keep people from hurting, killing, and stealing from others, and to make people treat others with decency and kindness, it's actually caused what it wanted to prevent. People have killed, hurt, and stole just because one does not believe the same ideas and opinions concerning religion as they do. Religion is a good thing, however, things like marrying as a virgin are nearly impossible. It's good to have morals, but religions not as needed as before. There are now laws to keep people in line. I believe in God BUT the "YOU WILL BURN IN HELL IF-" crap should stop.
