bass-ackwards

1) extremely (and often embarrassingly) poorly conceived, executed and/or organized

2) a less vulgar and more socially acceptable synonym for "ass-backwards"

"Everything on that website is so bass-ackwards it takes forever to find anything!"...

"Yeah, somehow they manage to do damn-near everything bass-ackwards down there at Bridgeport!"โ€ฆ

Future Bass

A genre of electronic music involving but not limited to:
1) filtered/modulated saw synths that can be detuned, with gliding pitch, with multiple voices to make it that crispy supersaw frequently used by Flume and Illenium. This can be used for chords, plucks, or leads.

2) Brassy sounds for synths or bass. Just make sure it's detuned and glidey.
3) Arpeggiated plucks for accompaniment.

4) Reese bass or some other detuned, low-passed bass. Often 808's.

5) Trap-influenced drums/percussion with toms dispersed with the kicks and snares. Impacts can help with the impact of the drop.

6) BPM 90-160. Usually between 90 and 130. The higher ranges are often associated with future bass sub-genres like Kawaii Future Bass or future trap.

7) White noise and heavy buildup with cutoffs opening up leading to drop.

9) Very focused on melody and chords.

10) Can have vocalists but not necessary. Can even have rappers.

Me: Bruh, you shoulda been at that concert. The crowd banged to that future bass Flume drop.

Boss: Oh did they? Well how about I bang you out of this job for being absent all week long!

drum and bass

Not mindless noise at all, as Burkey tries to claim. The basic premise is pattern based loops put over drum loops, but instead of your regular 4/4 um-tiss-um-tiss drums, it's set over the more flowing breakbeat format. The term drum and bass defines the predominent sounds you get: drums and bass are the sounds that are more predominent. It sticks wit a simple-but-effective motive towards melodies (or basslines is the case of dnb) but the complexity comes in the production of these sounds. The general rule for the sounds are bigger and badder is better, but depending on the style (there are also liquid and more ambient styles) this is also not the case. For those chart-dwellers who aren't quite sure of what this music is like, if you can refer back a few years when a few artists broke through (shy fx & t power, roni size, goldie and pendulum more recently) thats the kind of premise it follows, but that's only the surface of what is such a varied genre of music.to understand this music and to listen to the best, look for the artists in my examples.

Andy C, DJ Hype, Mampi Swift, DJ Hazard, Friction, Drumsound and Bassline Smith, DJ Fresh, Roni Size, Goldie, DJ Marky, Zinc, Chase and Status, LTJ Bukem, Brockie, Ed Rush & Optical, Sub Focus, Loxy, Ink, Noisia to name but a few Drum and Bass djs/producers

Bass Fart

When you are listening to music with or without friends and you yell "BASS FART!" right before you fart to add some bass to the song.

James and I were listening to music and out of the blue he yelled BASS FART and farted

drum and bass

rave/club music featuring a prominent bassline, breakbeats (non four to the floor drum beats), samples and a tempo of around 160-180 bpm. drum and bass came from jungle music, which itself was a merger of the sounds of early rave music, reggae/dub and hip hop. this music is the bollocks, if u don't like it, u should!! take some gurners and u might feel differently...

drum and bass is heard live via a dj who spins original tracks and remixes by producers, sometimes an MC is also present to hype the crowd up.

"i love drum and bass!!!"

Bass Guitar

One of the most underestemated instruments in a band. Although some bands would sound alright without the bass (AC/DC) others would sound like complete and utter shit (Metallica, Rob Zombie). The bass seems easy to pick up and play, which in a few cases it is, but it takes much more time to master than a guitar does. This is because the bass has much thicker strings and a longer neck and frets.

Myths about the bass:

1.Because it has fewer strings, the bass is easier to play.
I have a 5-string bass (1 less string than a guitar for stupid people) and an acoustic guitar. I like playing bass more and, to me, the acoustic guitar is easier to play than the bass

2.The bass isn't an important instrument in a band.
Look at the difinition, retard.

3.Since I play guitar I can play bass also.
No, no you can't, shutup. Bass and guitar are very different, and because u can play both, doesn't NESSESARILY mean you can play both.

I was actually in this conversation.

(Dumb guitarist): Since you hear the guitar more in a song, its more important, you know?

(Me):Are you fucking stupid? Youve been playing guitar for 3 days because you want to look cool and because I play bass guitar so you wanna prove your better. And every1 that you ask says I'm better.

(Dumb guitarist): Dude I can play Iron Man and this is just my 3rd day.

(Me): No, you can play 14 notes of Iron Man, and you still mess up while switching frets.

(Dumb guitarist): Whats a fret?

(Me): -_- Jesus Fucking Christ.....
