New England is made up of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. The region is known for its inhabitants' intelligence, work ethic, reserve, peppiness, and liberal tendencies.
And no, Connecticut, sorry, you don't count. Anywhere that has loud New York people and/or Yankees fans is NOT New England. Enjoy being a Middle Atlantic state with New York and Jersey, because that's really where you belong... at least from a cultural standpoint.
It's obvious people from Connecticut are actually "Noo Yawkas," and not "New Englandahs."

New England is a region of the United States and is made up of 5 1/2 states. The states in New England are: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and northern and eastern Connecticut*.
New England is best known for its awesome sports teams (both professional and college). It is also home to the greatest fair in the country.
If you can live it in New England you can pretty much live anywhere in the entire world, as New England has a little bit of everything. Generally nice people (interestingly enough the farther north you go the nicer they get). It is true that New Englanders have a different way of driving but it doesn't make us rude it makes us in a hurry!
* As a Nutmugger I'd like to set the record straight on this matter. South-western Connecticut is NOT part of New England and arguable it isn't even part of Connecticut. It is made up of rich executives who work in New York and their trophy wives. The be a bit more specific I am referring to the 203 area (as opposed to the 860 area). The 203 area is full of rich white collar executives and the vultures that feed of of their excess wealth (maids, butlers, drivers, ect..). They worship the cult that sometimes goes by the name of "New York Yankees" and other times goes by the name of "New York Giants". They don't have rough hands and they hire people to mow their lawns and shovel their drive ways (of course if I has a 5 acre lawn and a 3 mile drive I'd do the same...).

Being outplayed for 95% of a football match by a far superior team, but somehow managing to stay level with them due to a five minute period of scoring a couple of goals, which usually includes a Liverpool player blatantly diving for a penalty (which nobody bats an eyelid about) and hanging on for penalties.
If it was any other team, especially against England, they'd be labelled "cynical", "negative" or old fashioned "cheating bastards", which England's moronic fans will bleat about for at least twenty years afterwards.

Contrary to popular belief, northern England is no better then the south. Many people see the north of England as the deep south of the USA, south east England can be seen as the California. It's a sunny warm place the people are quite laid back and just go with the flow. They also love to have a good time, house parties, you name it. Quite a wild place, The south coast is made up of many beaches, sandy or stony and the people love to spend most of their free time there, southeast England is a wonderful place.
Southeast England should be visited at least once is your lifetime.
