Hella

A word that originated in the 1980's in the Central Valley of Northern California (Stockton, Tracy, Manteca, Lathrop) area. Was NOT originally a Bay Area word. In fact when I went to college at Berkeley in the 1990's, we knew who was from the Central Valley by use of the word "hella." Recently, however, the word Hella has migrated to the rest of the Bay Area.

Dude, that is hella cool, or Man, that is hella good!

Hella

Another way to say "very" or "really"

It's area of origin is often argued, commonly cited as being from the bay area.

It was made more popular recently after being used in the Life Is Strange game series

"That is hella cute"

"Can you leave my infection alone please?"

Hella

A completely pointless word that most sentences could live without.

Used to exaggerate a word.

"The word 'hella' is hella stupid!"

"You're hella right."
