A less than harsh but still stern way to tell someone to fuck right off. Some have said it’s derived from military service when the enemy would hide land mines under piles of rocks, but there is no real evidence to support this.

The act of kicking the shoes of an unresponsive stranger passed out on the street – who may be overdosing – to nudge them awake to check if they are still breathing or need medical attention.
