An individual who dislikes being like everybody else, likes to listen to music either sad or happy. Not all of them like Hawthorne Heights, and not all of them cut themselves, most are very happy. Most emo kids are people who might get worked up over things that arent a big deal, and don't always wear black. This is a very high rumor people are hearing and emo kids do NOT think of suicide. They are against pop culture, and popularity. Most emo kids are not popular, emo kids have good friends and talk all the time with them. They are goths that are too good to be goth, they like to write poetry or even knit there own scarves or clothes in spare time. Most emo kids lke to learn how to play guitar, and own a pair of chucks, besides chucks, emo kids dress the way they want to, and dont care what others think.

A specific variety of intellectual; one whose intellectual pursuits (often the reading of modern philosophers) has left them cynical, overly serious, and had a negative impact on their ability to have fun and socialize.
Most emo-lectuals (believing that they "get life" better than others) openly look down on people that are less intelligent or not as well versed in their particular field of interest (ie a particular art-style or said modern philosopher), making it difficult even for other intellectuals to enjoy their company and vice versa.
Intellectual: "What's that you're reading?"
Emo-lectual: "The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, have you read it?"
Intellectual: "No I'm not familiar with it"
Emo-lectual rolls his eyes with a melodramatic sigh and goes back to reading his book, deliberately ignoring Intellectual.

Any easily-led trend-follower whom has joined the sad, contrived, and bland false-genre known as emo. Emo fans pride themselves on looking alike (tight girl's pants on males, black backward mullets, see: emotenuse, contrived negative emotion, Converse high-tops, and peer-encouraged homosexuality. Emo music completely disregards the fact that all music is emotional, and insists that "emotional" pertains only to negative emotions. Emo music is basically commercial pop music masquerading as alternative, which may or may not contain occasional temper-tantrum screaming see: screamo.
Emo fans are lemmings that have been led to the edge of conformity, where they throw themselves into the ocean of exaggerated tears.
