It's a canon event, like how Johnny ate that bagel. It had to happen. Or else the space time continuum will be disturbed.
"Jake why'd you eat the whole box of cereal? that thing was completely full!"
"Nah bro it was a canon event."
Slang term originating from the movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. In movie, a canon event is an experience that is shared by all Spider People across the multiverse. These events are what build the personalities and livelihoods of the Spiders, and deviating and/or preventing canon events from happening can have dire consequences, up to and including the destruction of their universe and multiverse.
In real life slang, a canon event is a life experience that is so universally shared that it might as well be fated to happen, part of your real life canon so to speak. Like in the movie, these events make people who they are and more often than not they will grow somehow from it. Fumbling your first crush is often said to be one of the first real life canon events, and deviating from that outcome could have dire consequences...
"I can't believe I just blew my last opportunity to ask her out, now I'll never be able to see her again."
"Its a canon event bro, it happens to all of us. Don't worry you'll get it with the next one."
A significant moment or event in ones lifetime crucial to their character development. These events can have both good and bad outcomes.
The term originates from the 2023 film "Spider-Man: Across The Spiderverse," where several examples include getting bitten by a radioactive spider, Uncle Bens death, the death of a police captain close to Spider-Man, among others.
The death of Michael's dad really changed him, that was his canon event.
When Tina calls for overtime with a zero percent chance of rain and charges the black employees double for eggs
Oh shit! It’s sunny out, better bother the higher up because we got an egg event on our hands. I hope Euclides is there the light bill is due.
When your body shatters into a million electrifying pieces from an orgasm.
After that climatic event, I will definitely see him again.
The specific, oddly focused mindset that takes over an MMO player during in-game limited time events, often resulting in them shunning all game content in order to just play the event and grind out every last drop of that time limited content. Also applies to mobile format games which mirror the limited time event model.
Man, I'd love to hit up the new raid, but I'm in total Event Autism mode here, I need to grind out the Summer dailies on my alts then get a few hundred more tokens to get that next cosmetic before I can call it quits for the day.
A bad event that causes the people to intentional do or avoid performing certain actions and or activities in order to reduce the risk of having the same or similar issue happen to them. Often times it may only affect the specific place and or area where the event happened.
The shark attack at the beach caused less people to go to the beach for weeks, because people didn’t want to risk getting attacked. It was a repelling event.
