One of the top liberal arts colleges in the nation, Colgate University is home to some of the brightest and best young men and women, who hail from a variety of states and countries. Colgate, or 'Gate, as it is affectionately called by the student body, sports Division 1 athletic teams and a famously lively party scene. It has very little affiliation with the toothpaste brand, and anyone who makes what he or she thinks is a witty and original quip regarding the shared name should light his or her self on fire and jump out of a window for being so mindless...and go back to Hamilton College, the ugly cousin of Colgate.

The best combination of world-class academics, diversity, partying, location (Washington's just a metro ride away), athletic teams and facilities, and school spirit in the country, all for a fraction of the price of Miami, Penn State, or Virginia Tech. There's literally something for everyone.
Miami's got good athletics but is expensive and has a stuck-up student body. Virginia Tech's got good academics but Blacksburg's a shitty little town. University of Maryland has it all.

The university is located in central Illinois across the towns of Champaign and Urbana. The school is well known for its academics, athletics, party scene, and school spirit. It is consistently ranked among the top universities in America in U.S. News and World Report. The university is commonly recognized for its exceptional engineering and business programs. It was also ranked the eighteenth best party school in the United States in 2009 by the Princeton Review. It is home to the largest Greek Community in the country with over 50 fraternities and 30 sororities. Alumni from the university are some of the most successful men and women in America, this includes Roger Ebert, the founders of YouTube, Deron Williams, and much more. Whether it is attending a Big Ten football game, going out to the bars, or chanting the famous I-L-L-I-N-I chant the students of this campus love their school.
My four years at the University of Illinois was the best experience of my life.

A school six miles west of Boston named after the first Jewish Supreme Court Justice, Louis D. Brandeis. The girls there aren't quite so hot, and they did produce Richard Rubin (runner-up of "Beauty and the Geek".) School motto is "truth unto its innermost parts," although the phrase "Bran-Po can suck my nuts" is a close second, followed by "Aramark swallows" as a distant third.
Brandeis is a predominantly Jewish school (hence the monopoly on awkwardness), yet manages to be less financially endowed then the other filthy rich colleges within an 8-mile radius. That just means Brandeis can be just as smart as Harvard and Tufts without the fanciness or pretentious airs the Ivys and Seven Sisters take for granted.
If Wellesley College, is Hogwarts, then Brandeis is the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters--yes, it is populated by mutants, but as you can see, mutants can kick ass and be cool, too.

The fifth oldest school in the United States, and a member of the prestigious Ivy League. Columbia University was founded in 1754 as King's College, and the university has switched locations three times within the island of Manhattan. Although Columbia was founded as a loyalist university, Alexander Hamilton, a Columbia alum, helped keep the university going after the Revolution, alongside his fellow Columbian, John Jay.
Columbia is currently located in the Morningside Heights Neighborhood of Manhattan, near Harlem. However, the school has completely gentrified the area, and the neighborhood has become as overpriced as the rest of New York. The University is also the largest private landowner in New York City, along with the Catholic Church, and the endowment is one of the largest in the nation. Tuition for undergrads averages to about $50,000 per year, and graduate tuition tends to be even higher.
The University's journalism school issues the Pulitzer Prize every year, and Columbia University professors and alums lay claim to the invention of FM radio, the early stages of the Manhattan Project, and a number of other advances. Furthermore, Columbia lays claim to more Nobel Prize winning affiliates than any other university in the world.
Undergraduate colleges include Columbia College and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Columbia is also affiliated with the Seven Sisters school, Barnard College; however, most Columbia students do not refer to Barnard girls as Columbians, and undergrads from the two schools often hate that Barnard girls think they go to Columbia. Barnard degrees are certified by Columbia, and the schools' respective students often argue and complain about Barnard's relationship.
Columbia College's acceptance rate usually hovers below 9%, making the school one of the most exclusive universities in the world. Columbia students are usually left in the political arena, and the school is regarded as one of the most liberal ivies; however, most students at Columbia are usually spoiled rich kids. In contrast to other ivies, many Columbia students solely apply to Columbia, instead of applying to all of the ivies. Many students are lured to the school by the appeal of living in New York City.
Columbia's other schools include the prestigious Columbia law school, Teacher's College, and the School of Physicians and Surgeons. All Columbia graduate programs are ranked within the top 10 in the country, and the schools are incredibly difficult to get into.
Columbia alums include Barack Obama, Alexander Hamilton, Robert Livingston, Jack Kerouac, Theodore Roosevelt, Lou Gherig, Madeleine Albright, Eric Holder, Warren Buffett, Spiderman and many other world leaders in business, politics, medicine, and all other disciplines.

A member of the prestigious Ivy League and founded in 1764 as the seventh college in America and the third in New England, Brown is a university located in Providence, Rhode Island. Regarded as one of the most elite and selective colleges in the world by those in academia, Brown took the path less traveled in the design of its curriculum. Unlike Yale and Harvard, Brown has no core requirements, placing sole responsibility for an education in the hands of its students. Largely misunderstood by the masses because of its liberal philosophy, Brown continues to be the largest feeder into Harvard Law School behind Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. Much to the chagrin of the public, Brown students do not typically misuse the Open Curriculum and are not tree-hugging, pot smoking hippies.
The valedictorian of our high school who scored a 1590 on the SAT I: Reasoning Test went to Brown.
Sarah, who graduated from Exeter Academy, chose Brown over Harvard and Yale.
